Privacy

Updated Nov. 8, 2026

RankCFB doesn't ask who you are. There are no accounts and no ads. We count visits ourselves, and if you accept cookies, Microsoft Clarity shows us how people use the pages. Here is everything we keep.

In Your Browser

We set one cookie ourselves, once you've saved a ranking. It holds the same random ID, so we can still find your ranking if your browser clears this site's storage on its own. Microsoft Clarity sets cookies only if you tap Accept all. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes all of it.

On Our Server

When you tap Save, your browser sends your ID and your list of teams. We keep the ID and when it was made, each week's ranking and when you saved it, and your last few saves that week. We don't store your name, email or IP address.

We also count how many times the Save and Download buttons are pressed each week. A press adds one to that button's total. It carries no ID, no IP address and nothing else about you.

When you leave the Rank page, it sends three things: about how long it was open (a range, like 30 seconds to 2 minutes), how far down you scrolled and whether you touched the list. We only count the totals. It carries no ID, no IP address and nothing else about you.

Every page also sends one short note when you leave it or switch away. It says which page it was, the link tag if there was one, the kind of site you came from (like Reddit or Google), whether you're on a phone, tablet or computer, and whether this browser has been here before today. It says roughly how far down you scrolled (a quarter, half, three quarters or all the way), roughly how long the page was open (a range, like 30 seconds to 2 minutes), and which parts of the page came into view. It also says what you tapped: Rank buttons, links, chart buttons, and on the Rank page moving a team, Save, the bracket, Download and Share, and your answer to the cookie question. And it notes a few things that help us fix the site: how fast the page loaded (a range), whether it hit an error, quick repeated taps in one spot, taps on pictures or charts that don't do anything, and whether you copied text (not what you copied). If you come back to the page and do more, a second note adds only the new parts. It never includes what you type. This note uses no cookies and is sent whatever you choose on the cookie question, including Necessary only.

We keep only the hour it happened, not the minute, and count the totals. It carries no ID and nothing else about you, and we don't store IP addresses.

Microsoft Clarity (Only If You Accept)

Microsoft Clarity is a free tool made by Microsoft. If you tap Accept all on the cookie question, or turn on Analytics under Manage preferences, it records how you use each page: clicks, taps, scrolling and mouse movement, along with your device and browser type, screen size and rough location (country). We watch those recordings and heatmaps to find what's confusing and fix it. Until you accept, nothing from Microsoft loads.

It never records what you type into a box. Clarity hides that on every site.

It sets Clarity's own cookies (_clck and _clsk) and Microsoft's MUID cookie. Microsoft handles that data under its privacy statement. We don't connect Clarity to Microsoft's advertising.

Replays are kept 30 days, and Microsoft may keep a random sample for up to 9 months and heatmaps up to 9 months, Clarity's limits.

Tap Necessary only and Clarity never loads. Accepted and changed your mind? Use Cookie choices at the bottom of any page and turn Analytics off: Clarity stops, its two cookies on this site are removed and it's gone from your next page. Microsoft's MUID cookie sits on Microsoft's own site, so only your browser settings can clear it. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we treat it as Necessary only.

What Other People See

Other fans see only combined numbers, like how many fans have a team in their top 10. When only a few fans have ranked that week, those numbers can come close to showing each list, but never who made it.

Our Host

Netlify runs the site. Like any host, it sees your IP address to deliver pages and to limit how often one network can call our server, and it keeps standard server logs. Those server logs also count page loads, where visits come from and the approximate country. It adds no tracking scripts or cookies.

We never sell or share your data. We never know who you are, so we can't look up or remove one person's ranking. Questions? Email press@rankcfb.com.
